Descendants of the Stymphalian birds of Greek myth


These relentless scavengers are always on the lookout for an easy meal or scrap of food. Great shrieking, squealing flocks of them have been known to follow ships on the Deep for days at a time, clanging and crashing their brazen feathers against one another as they scrabble for floating scraps and garbage dropped by passing vessels. Sailors say that listening to the ceaseless clatter of their metallic wings for too long can drive a man mad.
